Latest Updates

Required actions for suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19

Public Health have updated the flowcharts for parents and educational settings to align these with the most recent national guidance. As a reminder, these outline the actions that you must take in the event of having a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19.

Please save these versions for future reference and note the requirement to complete the online form. We, and Public Health, would be grateful if you could share the relevant flowchart with parents.

Local restrictions

Last term the DfE asked all schools to plan for the possibility of local restrictions. Since then you will have been planning how you will ensure continuity of education if some sort of restriction is applied in the local area.

The Department of Health and Social Care has now updated their Contain Framework. This includes an overview of the ‘tiers of intervention’ for educational settings when managing local outbreaks and implementing restrictions. The tiers will ensure that extensive limitations on education and childcare are a last resort. Also that priority for face to face provision is given to vulnerable children and the children of critical workers.

If required, Tier 2 would require secondary schools to adopt a rota system and further education colleges to limit on-site attendance, whilst all other settings (including alternative provision and special schools) remain fully open.

The DfE has published guidance for schools on tier 2 local restrictions to help decision makers plan for a tier 2 rota model if required.
