Reminder - Reporting cases of Covid-19

As a reminder, to report confirmed cases you should use the MKC online form.  This simultaneously notifies Public Health and Education colleagues at Milton Keynes Council.  The online form is embedded within the flowchart for schools and settings.

Announcements

Tiers of local lockdown V tiers of educational provision

There has been some confusion about the three tiers of local lockdown and how they relate to the four tiers of educational provision.

The four tiers of restriction for education and childcare (outlined in annex 3 of the contain framework) remain in place and are not directly connected to the new local alert levels introduced by government.

This means that if MK moved to a local tier 2, this doesn’t mean that you should automatically move to educational tier 2 in your school or college.

Michael Bracey (Chief Exec) and Mac Heath (DCS) are in regular correspondence with Government about the impact of any possible future restrictions and what these might mean for schools, children and communities. The issue of the potential confusion about tiers has been made and MKC continues to seek clarity on your behalf.

DfE COVID-19 guidance

The DfE has grouped their Covid-19 guidance into ‘collection pages’ to make information easier for different users to access.

MK foster carers needed

We would really appreciate if you could share the following message with your parent and carer community. Thank you.

Milton Keynes Council is looking for MK based foster carers.

Children come into foster care because they are unable to remain with their parents.  Wherever we can, we try to keep families together.  Where this is not possible, we rely on Foster Carers to provide children with a safe, happy and supportive home. Milton Keynes Council offers Foster Carers the following:

•          Competitive rates of pay

•          Regular Supervision and Support

•          Ongoing training

•          24/7 duty number - for support day and night

•          Access to a specialist independent consultant on trauma and attachment

•          Support Groups

•          Membership of the Fostering Network

•          An experienced Foster Carer as a mentor

To find out more about fostering in MK and what it takes to foster, please visit our Fostering page.  You can also call us on this Freephone number: 08000 356 671
