Online COVID - 19 flowchart and online form

Please could you continue to use the online form to notify MKC education and public health colleagues of confirmed cases of COVID - 19 in staff or pupils.

After half term, you should use the online form to retrospectively notify us of any confirmed cases.  This will enable us to support you in making sure that the right staff and children are in school or setting and that any who need to self-isolate are at home.

The FAQs that link to the flowchart for schools and settings have been updated.  We hope that you continue to find these useful.  Please note: the flowchart has not changed, just the FAQs.

DfE guidance

New guidance for clinically extremely vulnerable people

The Department of Health and Social Care has provided new guidance on shielding and protecting people who are clinically extremely vulnerable from COVID - 19.

It is less restrictive than previous shielding guidance and includes advice at each Local COVID Alert Level.  The guidance will support you in considering your work with vulnerable children and staff.

In the future, formal shielding advice will only be reintroduced in some (not all) very high alert level areas (level 3).  In this event, the government will write to people separately to inform them if they are advised to shield.

DfE COVID - 19 guidance

The DfE has grouped their Covid - 19 guidance into ‘collection pages’ to make information easier for different users to access.

These can be accessed using the links below:

MKC services

Early Adopters of EYFS 2020 (schools)

As you know, some MK schools are Early Adopters of the Reformed Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS). It will become statutory for all providers from September 2021.

Early Adopters have recently been sent an exemption from LA moderation school visits letter from the DfE. If you are an Early Adopter, please could you help us by sending a copy of your letter to Jennifer.bargrove@milton-keynes.gov.uk

Thank you

Belinda Woodcock – EYFSP moderation manager

New! Free setting support (settings)

We are pleased to be able to resume support for settings that are currently Ofsted Good and are expecting inspection. As you know, we began to make visits to settings before the covid19 lockdown. We will now be offering support in the form of a phone call discussion (or through online Teams if you would prefer).

As MKC has a limited resource, we will initially be offering those settings expecting an inspection soon. The purpose is to support your self-reflection on response and recovery to the COVID - 19 situation. It is not an ‘Ofsted’ check and will be offered in the spirit of celebrating your strengths and awareness raising of any areas for development.

We are hoping to include childminders at a later date.

Arrangements

  • An email will be sent to you offering support with the name of the early years colleague who will contact you
  • The early years colleague will call you to arrange a date, time and give you information about what could be discussed
  • Following the call, you will be sent some prompts to help your thinking and make best use of the planned discussion
  • The discussion will take place and the main points discussed will be sent to you for your records

Please get in touch if you would like more information

We look forward to working with you

Thank you

Belinda Woodcock
