Announcements

New national restrictions for education and childcare settings

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on 31 October, new national restrictions will come into force on Thursday 5 November.

The DfE has published information about how the new national restrictions impact on education, childcare and children’s social care settings.

There is specific information about:

•          Clinically extremely vulnerable staff and pupils – this won’t automatically be the same staff/ pupils who were asked to shield during the March 2020 Lockdown.

•          Face coverings – there is clear information about the use of face coverings in different educational settings (ie/ EYS settings, primary schools, secondary schools, FE colleges).

•          Music, dance and drama – these subjects can continue to be taught in line with previously issued guidance.

•          School sports and extra-curricular activities – physical education and sport should continue to be provided to support health and fitness of pupils.

•          Out of school activities and wrap around childcare – this should continue where the primary purpose is providing childcare to allow parents to work.

•          Early Years and childcare – early years settings and childminders remain open. There is specific information for this sector which is separate to that for schools.

•          Further education - Further education colleges will remain open to on site delivery. There is specific information for this sector which is separate to that for schools.

Please take the time to engage with the new information, remembering that the changes don’t need to be implemented until Monday 9 November.

MKC Services

Early Adopters of the reformed EYFS 2020 (schools)

Some MK schools are ‘Early Adopters’ of the Reformed Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS).  This will become statutory for all providers in September 2021.

The DfE recently sent ‘Early Adopters’ a letter of exemption from LA moderation visits.

If you are an ‘Early Adopter’, please email a copy of your exemption letter to Jenny Bargrove.  This will support us in effectively planning the 2020-2021 EYFSP moderation programme.

Message from the Intervention and Inclusion team

The Intervention and Inclusion Team have training available (PDF, 674KB).  All sessions will be freely available via Microsoft Teams. The document is also available via the MK Local Offer pages, where additional sessions and dates will be added in an ongoing way for the Spring and Summer terms.
