Important announcement

Rapid Testing: Director of Public Health urges Early Years staff to access regular testing

Our Lateral Flow Testing provision at Central Library has been extended to further support Early Years staff

Early Years staff continue to do a fantastic job caring for our young children during the pandemic.  We know that going in to work during the lockdown is an anxious time for some and MKC want to do everything we can to help reduce the risks of transmission in our community.

Rapid tests are available at Central Library for frontline key workers, including Early Years staff, without symptoms.  These are the same tests as those used regularly by primary and secondary school teachers.  Listening to your feedback, we have extended the opening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays - the new opening hours in place from today, Tuesday 02 February are as follows:

Monday:          9.30-4.30pm

Tuesday:         9.30-7pm

Wednesday:    9.30-4.30pm

Thursday:        9.30-7pm

Friday:             9.30-4.30pm

It is extremely important that you access these tests to protect EY settings across Milton Keynes.  We know that 1 in 3 people with COVID-19 do not have any symptoms but can spread the infection to others.  Identifying people who are positive for COVID-19 without displaying symptoms can help to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases and limit the number of people who might fall very ill.

I strongly encourage all frontline staff in Early Years settings to carry out a rapid test once, or ideally twice, per week.  The tests are simple and you will receive your result within hours.  All you need to bring is a smartphone and one form of ID.

This testing at Central Library forms a critical part of our efforts to control COVID-19 in Milton Keynes.  For more information, please visit: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/understanding-lateral-flow-antigen-testing-for-people-without-symptoms
