Dear Colleagues,

I hope you find the information in this edition of EYE useful. As always, please contact me if you need advice or guidance regarding EYFS.

Reminder

We’ve updated the SYMPTOMATIC AND CONFIRMED CASES flowchart for MK schools and settings (PDF) that outlines the local process that must be followed for confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Please save the latest version now, for future reference, and share it with staff.

Remember, you only need to use the online form to report confirmed cases in staff or children who are attending setting/school. You don’t need to report confirmed cases in staff or children who aren’t accessing setting/school - because they will engage with NHS Track and Trace.

If you have a confirmed case of Covid – 19 and you need guidance, please contact me as the Key Education Contact for settings on 01908 254929 or 075 865 542 79.

If you are unable to contact me, please ring Jenny Bargrove on 01908 254071/254509 or 075 573 135 37

Best wishes

Belinda Woodcock

Announcements

Thank you

As we near the Easter break, we’d like to thank you once again for all your work with the children, young people and families of Milton Keynes.

Throughout this term, you and your teams have continued to respond at speed to the changing national picture.  We understand the pressures schools and settings yet you have remained resilient and flexible.

Over the Easter holidays, please remember that it’s important to make some time for yourself.  The work you do is hugely important but looking after yourself (and taking a break when you can) will allow you to start the next term refreshed and re-energised.

Have a happy Easter.

The next EYE will be published the week beginning 12 April.

National survey from the Children’s Commissioner

Dame Rachel de Souza, Children’s Commissioner for England, has launched a review of the future of childhood. The aim is to identify and address barriers holding children back in the 21st century.

The review begins with ‘The Big Ask’: a national survey designed to gather children’s own views about what the government should prioritise in planning the recovery from the pandemic.

The Big Ask will be launched on Monday 19 April as a short online questionnaire. You’ll receive a link to the questionnaire shortly after the launch.

Please share the survey with pupils and promote it widely.

SEMH Team Update

The SEMH Team, part of the wider Inclusion and Intervention Team, will no longer be operating after the Easter break. This decision was made by School Forum in consultation with maintained primary schools: to cease de-delegation of funding to the team from April 2021.

Please remember that you have a responsibility to make sure that support is in place for SEND children, including for children with the most significant and complex SEMH needs.

The SEND Team will continue to offer support via the SEND Support Line 01908 657 825.

Useful info

Milton Keynes Nappy Campaign

Did you know?

In the UK, 7% of parents and carers who use disposable nappies wrongly put them in their recycling. Around 400 nappies are put in clear recycling sacks every day in Milton Keynes.

Just one nappy can spoil a whole truckload, as the recycling has to be treated as rubbish instead.

Keep Britain Tidy is working with Milton Keynes Council to spread the message that nappies never go in the recycling. Nappies need to go in your black rubbish sacks. Please pass the message on!

For more information or to request FREE campaign materials please contact: amy.casey@keepbritaintidy.org

Please continue to forward this newsletter to relevant colleagues.  You can also contact EY Enquiries if you wish to add any colleagues.

For weekly video updates from Council Leader Pete Marland, plus weekly data slides, please visit our Covid Outbreak Control page.

By working together and keeping each other well informed, we can reduce anxiety and workload across the MK education system.

Note: Please do not respond directly to this email.

Thank you
