CityFibre: Gigabit City Project

Vodafone and CityFibre plan to fund a £40million investment in Milton Keynes that will provide Gigabit potential fibre broadband connections to around 90,000 premises within the urban area of Milton Keynes.

Milton Keynes has been identified by the Centre for Cities as one of five Fast Growth Cities in the UK, with significant potential for the future and CityFibre has chosen to invest in Milton Keynes because of its high levels of productivity and growing population. This deployment is a fully private sector funded project and is intended to be completed in around three years.  We hope to be able to provide updates on the deployment in due course. The first works related to this project are due to start in March this year.

City Fibre has now started deployment of its Gigabit capable fibre network in the Blue Bridge, Bradville and Bancroft areas of Milton Keynes.  The works are being inspected by the Council’s Highways Team to ensure they meet the national standards required for reinstatement of footpaths and estate roads.  Further information about the next areas to benefit from City Fibre’s investment will be made available in due course.
