Certificate of Existing or Proposed Lawful Use or Development
Lawful Development Certificate
To find out if a proposal requires planning permission or can be carried out under permitted development, or that an existing or proposed use of a building is lawful, you can apply for a Certificate of Lawful Use or Development (either existing or proposed).
The Council will issue a certificate if it is satisfied that a particular use or development is lawful based on the evidence provided – planning merits are not considered.
