Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)
Consultation on the Draft Statement of Community Involvement (2019)
The Council is holding an eight week period of public consultation on the Draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) (2019). The consultation provides an opportunity to comment on the content of the revised SCI which, once adopted, will replace the extant document adopted in March 2014.
The consultation will commence on Monday 14 January 2019 and comments must be received no later than 5.00pm on Friday 8 March 2019.
After the end of the consultation period, any comments received will be considered by Officers and the revised SCI will be amended accordingly. A report will then be prepared to reflect the comments received throughout the consultation. The final SCI will then be approved by the Cabinet Member responsible for Customer Services, replacing the existing document adopted in 2014.
The preferred method for submitting comments is via the Council’s online consultation portal, which can be accessed at: Consultation Portal.

Statement of Community Involvement (2014)
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how Milton Keynes Council will engage with local communities and stakeholders in the development of planning policy documents and in the determination of planning applications within the Borough.
The first SCI for Milton Keynes was prepared in December 2006. As this document was increasingly out-of-date, a new version was published for a twelve-week consultation period ending on 15 January 2014. Following that consultation, comments received were taken on board and a final version was adopted by the Cabinet at its meeting of 12 March 2014. The papers from that meeting, including the comments received on the consultation draft can be viewed.
The new SCI (March 2014) can be downloaded at: Milton Keynes Statement of Community Involvement (PDF, 357KB). This document now forms the procedures and processes for consultation and engagement in the planning process.
