Milton Keynes Council’s response to the fire at Grenfell Tower in London
Tuesday 20 June 2017
Our heartfelt thoughts are with those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire, and with the families and friends of those who tragically lost their lives.
MKC directly manages three high rise buildings: Mellish Court, The Gables and Serpentine Court (18, 11 and 6 storeys respectively).
None of these premises have external cladding. All have up to date fire assessments. The properties are regularly inspected to make sure their safety measures are effective, and to carry out any remedial works identified.
We’re reiterating Bucks Fire and Rescue Service’s advice to our high rise tenants to make sure they know what to do in the event of a fire. Bucks Fire & Rescue Service also offers a free assessment of the fire risks in your home and free smoke alarms where they are needed (call 01296 744477 or email firstname.lastname@example.org)
As an extra precaution we’re asking private landlords of high rise properties in MK to provide us with reassurance about their fire assessments.
