fly tipper - March 2020

A fly tipper caught illegally dumping car tyres on a Milton Keynes estate has been ordered to pay almost £1,400.

Calxalim Maxamuud was spotted in Barton Road Industrial Estate in April 2019 illegally dumping car tyres into nearby bushes.

Maxamuud failed to cooperate with an investigation carried out by Environmental Crime Officers at MK Council and was summoned to appear at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court on 13 March 2020.

He was fined £769, ordered to pay £540 towards MKC’s legal costs and must pay a £76 victim surcharge.

Cllr Emily Darlington, Cabinet Member for Public Realm said: “MK Council is continuing to crackdown on illegal fly tippers in Milton Keynes.

“It’s just not acceptable to dump waste wherever you like and expect someone else to clean it up.  Please use one of the Household Waste Recycling Centres.”

Environmental Crime Team Leader, Pete Roberts said:  “We continue to use CCTV to catch offenders in the act.

“There are three Household Waste Recycling Centres in MK and this man’s waste would have been accepted at all of them for free.”

Fly tipping carries a maximum sentence of an unlimited fine and/or five years imprisonment.  MK Council can also issue £250 Fixed Penalty Notices for minor offences.
