The umbrella body for the disabled children's sector bringing together professionals, practitioners and policy-makers.
The Council for Disabled Children (CDC) works to see a fully-inclusive society where disabled children and young people and those with special educational needs can lead full and happy childhoods and rewarding adult lives.
As a membership body of over 200 voluntary and community organisations and an active network of practitioners, CDC provides a collective voice that champions the rights of children, young people and their families and challenges barriers to inclusion.
It works with the sector to learn what is and isn’t working on the ground, and influence policy and practice to ensure that society is fully inclusive to disabled children and young people so they can enjoy the same rights and opportunities as all other children.
CDC shares its knowledge with sector leaders and front-line practitioners, working in partnership to capitalise on opportunities, find solutions and co-ordinate collective action.
The Council for Disabled Children is led by Dame Christine Lenehan.
