Early Years Speech and Language Therapy

The service is for pre-school age children (0 - to rising five years) with speech and language difficulties. Children must be registered with a Milton Keynes general practitioner (GP).
Covers hearing impairment, cleft lip and palate, social communication difficulties, dysfluency, speech and language disorders, augmentative and alternative communication.

Milton Keynes Early Years SLT Team works with pre-school children with speech and language difficulties.  It offers drop-in assessment sessions, play and language drop-in sessions and the Hanen parent training programme.

We offer five drop in sessions a month, so if you are concerned about your child's communication, pop in to see us.  See the link below for more information.

Early Years Complex Needs Team

This service is for pre-school age children (0 - rising 5 years) with feeding, swallowing, and speech and language difficulties. Children must be registered with a Milton Keynes general practitioner (GP).

Milton Keynes Early Years Complex Needs SLT Team is a specialist team which develops the communication, eating and drinking skills of pre-school age children with long term disabilities.

The SLT service only provides specialist feeding assessments where there is a physical difficulty with chewing and swallowing.  See the link below, which gives information about your child's first appointment.

Speech and Language Therapy Team for schools

The Schools Speech and Language Therapy Team provides services to primary, secondary schools and some specialist education provision within Milton Keynes. It offers specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention for children and young people as well as training for staff working in education. Your child's Special Educational Needs Coodinator (SENCo) can refer to our service.

Therapist working in this team provide a service to school age pupils who:

  • Have speech, language and communication needs.
  • Are registered with a Milton Keynes general practitioner (GP).
  • Attend a  primary or secondary mainstream school in Milton Keynes. 
  • Attend language or communication departments and those who are deaf or hearing impaired.

The service is provided within schools and focuses on supporting learning and promoting social participation.
