How we support young people with SEND in Milton Keynes

We want all young people in Milton Keynes with special educational needs and/or disabilities to make a successful transition to adulthood, this includes:

  • Access to training, further and higher education
  • Paid employment, wherever possible
  • Living as independently as possible
  • Having good physical and emotional health
  • Being part of their community
  • Having friends and relationships

Young people with special educational needs and disabilities may need extra help and support to achieve the best possible life outcomes. Schools will start planning transition to adulthood, with the young person and their family, from the age of 14 onwards. This will need to involve other professionals including school careers advisers who can provide impartial advice on all Post 16 options such as further education and training.
