Short Break Vouchers 2021-22

We are very pleased to announce a one-off increase to the value of short break vouchers that you will be receiving for 2021 – 2022 by 50%,  based on the eligibility criteria.   We have worked closely with PACA and understand the difficulties resulting in many families not able to fully use their vouchers last year, due to the pandemic and as a result have made this change for the coming year.

The online application for Short Break vouchers is now open, please apply via the Local Offer page: This page also details eligibility criteria (Short Breaks Statement) as well as a list of providers that accept the vouchers. If you have applied since the 1 January 2021, you do not need to apply again and the additional vouchers will automatically be added.

We are continuously looking to increase the number and range of providers of activities to join the scheme and will be updating the brochure on a regular basis throughout the year.

We anticipate issuing the vouchers in early April or within three weeks of receipt for applications received after the 15 March.  If you have any queries please email -

Short Breaks Vouchers

Update - 01 September 2020

The position in relation to short break vouchers has been reviewed and we are now issuing the full value of vouchers to families that have requested their vouchers for this year.

There are still a limited number of providers either open or able to take the vouchers at the moment, Sheilagh Fahy is working hard to try to get the information from providers and update this site but we would advise you to make contact with providers prior to your planned visits when intending to use your vouchers.

Throughout Covid-19, all SEND Teams at MKC have considered and responded to the individual needs of families and young people to try to find creative and flexible solutions where more support and resources are needed. We will continue to take this approach as we move into the new academic year and would encourage that where you have concerns, to contact us so that we can take the necessary steps to support you.

The brochure is being updated regularly as new information is received from venues regarding their opening arrangements – this document is available as a clickable link at:

We will continue to work with providers to see who is open and able to accept vouchers, however we do advise that you make contact with the provider ahead of time to fully understand any Covid restrictions that might be in place at this time.

Thank you for your continued patience whilst we try to manage the Short Breaks offer during these unprecedented times.

If you do not hold an EHCP issued by Milton Keynes Council you are not entitled to these vouchers.
