National Autism Society (NAS) Parent Programmes
EarlyBird Plus (PDF, 130KB) (ages four-nine) and Teen Life (PDF, 125KB) (ages 10 to 16) are support programmes for parents and carers, offering advice and guidance on strategies and approaches to working with young autistic children. The programmes work on understanding autism, building confidence to encourage interaction and communication, and understanding and supporting behaviour. EarlyBird Plus is a 3 month programme and Teen Life is a 6 session programme; both are delivered by our NAS trained Specialist Teachers.
Both of these programmes offer 2 spaces to families for parent/carers to attend and an optional third space for a supporting professional or other adult (such as a setting/school team member, or child-minder) to attend. This allows families the option of working with another adult that is supporting their child to build confidence and encourage them to problem solve together.
NAS Parent Programmes are aimed at parents and carers of children and young people who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition.
