Statement of Change

In February 2021, the MK SENDIAS team became a part of Children’s Services Directorate, positioned alongside the SEND service area. There are clear arrangements put in place for the SENDIAS Service to retain its impartiality and confidentiality. We will be reviewing these arrangements at the end of the year and through this period we will continue to seek views from parents, carers and young people on your experience of the service and your views on these arrangements. If you have any queries or feedback, please email mksendias@milton-keynes.gov.uk

More details in our statement of change (PDF, 93KB).

New Resources

Advisory Group

Required to comply with Minimum Standards for IAS Services, our new Advisory Group met for the first time in November 2020. We have an excellent diverse group of people representing topics such as: the voice of the young person and of parents, employment for young people, SEND in primary and secondary schools, school nursing, social care and more.

The aim of an Advisory Group is to support the service with challenges, share expertise of members and generally help the service to meet the needs of families in Milton Keynes. Next meeting is scheduled for March 2022.

Young Person Network

We had a great meeting with a group of young people via Microsoft Teams. It was inspiring to hear about their aspirations for the future. Their thoughts on how the lockdown experience had been for them was helpful – the highs and the lows – as well as their concerns around exams. We also talked about the impact of virtual assemblies, class bubbles and socially distanced classes.

Next meeting will be in February 2022. If any young people would like to join this virtual meeting you would be very welcome. Please contact Rachel on: rachel.clark2@milton-keynes.gov.uk

We hope to explore what issues they would like to raise at the Advisory Group, what concerns them moving forward e.g. opportunities beyond school, challenges with the new virtual world and workshops young people would find helpful.

Events and Meetings are cancelled due to Coronavirus pandemic

We are sorry we will not be able to meet face to face for the time being. However we can support any school meetings virtually. We have suspended all outreach activity until further notice and these include monthly Child Development Centre sessions, Family Centre drop-ins and MK College drop-ins.
