Adult Social Care Taster Week

EDD Project (Every Day is Different)

Are you interested in a career in Adult Social Care?

The ASC Taster Week project was developed to promote careers in Adult Social Care to Milton Keynes schools/college students aged between 16 and 19 years old who are studying towards a Health and Social care qualification.  Our vision is for young people in Milton Keynes to choose a career in adult social care having had the opportunity to experience the work taster.

The placement is for one week and includes an induction session where the students learn about topics to prepare them for their placement. For example: Safeguarding, Dementia, Learning Disabilities.

All students have a trained mentor to support and guide them whilst on their work taster.

The placements are at:

  • Milton Keynes Council Adult Social Care day services (Learning Disability and Dementia)
  • Macintyre
  • Camphill communities
  • Fremantle trust
  • SNAP
  • Headway brain injury unit
  • Lovatt Fields Retirement Village

The students gain a valuable experience and are also able to use the hours towards their qualification.

"The work experience was absolutely amazing and I loved every single bit of it. If anyone has the chance to do this work experience then they should definitely do it as you will gain a lot of experience and you never know you may find yourself wanting to do something like this in the future. Thank you" J B  at Tower drive

We have had over 100 student participants from 10 schools in Milton Keynes who have taken up this offer over the last 3 years. See for yourself…
