Milton Keynes Short Breaks and Shared Lives (Adults)

Lockdown from Thursday 5th November 2020 - Day services and short breaks will continue to operate in accordance with COVID-19 restrictions. We are anticipating some additional Government guidance regarding these services, once we receive this we will provide a further update.

Short Breaks

The Short Breaks Service is registered with The Care Quality Commission (CQC)  and is available to adults with learning disabilities who have the highest and most complex needs (see our Complex Services Model) providing day support, weekend and overnight stays which also offer a break (respite) for carers. The staff work closely with health and social care professionals, each person using the service will have a detailed individual support plan to meet their physical and emotional needs.

Shared Lives

The scheme is registered with The Care Quality Commission (CQC) and matches adults who have care and support needs with an approved Shared Lives Carer who provides support in their own home.

Both services are accessed following an assessment of eligibility completed by the Community Team for Adult with Learning Disabilities
