What goes in the yellow bag?
Please fill up your yellow bag with used household batteries so they can be recycled. To order a free yellow battery bag please email customerservices@milton-keynes.gov.uk or call 01908 252570.

Batteries accepted include:
- Size AA
- Size AAA
- Size C
- Size D
- 6 Volt
- 9 Volt
- Laptop batteries
- Button batteries
- Mobile phone batteries
Once the yellow bag is full, place out on top of the green wheelie bin on your bin collection day. Once collected a replacement yellow bag should be left under the lid of your wheelie bin.

Can I put a battery that has leaked in the yellow bag?
No, batteries that have leaked must be placed in the black bin bag as they may damage other batteries.
Can I recycle car batteries?
The yellow bag is not suitable for car batteries, so please take car batteries to one of our Household Waste Recycling Centres.
How are batteries recycled?
All batteries collected in yellow battery bags are sent to Birmingham where they are melted down, the metals and acid are extracted to be made into new recycled products, including new batteries.
