Your unwanted items could still be of use

Local charities such as Age UK Milton Keynes and Willen Hospice need all types of household items, including electrical items (although not televisions, washing machines or computers) in working order. For safety reasons, they cannot accept gas appliances, some upholstered items (if they don’t meet the current fire regulations), certain toys and personal safety items, such as crash helmets, etc.

Age UK Milton Keynes can collect larger items of furniture from homes in the Milton Keynes area free of charge. They can usually collect pianos to re-sell, but please ring to discuss this first as there will be a charge for collecting a piano. Please call the Furniture Store on 01908 263838 during opening hours (Mon - Sat: 9am to 5pm; Sun: 11am to 4pm) to arrange a convenient time - currently collections are made Monday to Friday between 10am and 3.30pm. The store is located at 6 Burners Lane, Kiln Farm, Milton Keynes MK11 3HB.

The Willen Hospice Furniture Store also sells all types of second-hand furniture. They can pick up saleable bulky items (call 01908 648377 to arrange). The store, located at 80 Queensway, Bletchley, MK2 2RU  is open Monday to Saturday 9.30am - 5.00pm and Sundays 11.00am - 3.00pm. For more information, call 01908 648377.

There are also house clearance firms  who will clear your house and make a charitable donatation from their profits. Many items are re-used for community projects, but some charges may be applicable.

You could also donate your item to a local jumble sale.
