What Is ESWT?
The Emergency Social Work Team (ESWT) delivers Milton Keynes Council's statutory obligation to provide an out of hours service for children and young people in need, or those at risk of significant harm.
What we do?
We provide essential information, advice, guidance and support to families, foster carers and professionals including the Police and Health Services.
What is an emergency?
An emergency is something that requires immediate action and cannot safely wait until the next working day.
The numbers for other out of hours services in the country are readily available via directory enquiries or internet search.
What happens when you call us?
Before 9pm your call will come through to the office. After 9pm your call will be diverted to the on call Social Worker working at home. Please leave a message if you are unable to get through, however if you do not receive a call back within half an hour, please call again. Please do not rely on telephone messages as a means to passing information to the on call social worker.
All calls will be answered by a Social Worker. Please be prepared with details of the family you are calling about, including names, date of births and addresses.
People in high risk situations will always receive a priority service.
We are available:
Monday-Thursday 17:00-21:00 (Social Worker office based in MK)
Friday 16:30-21:00 (Social Worker office based in MK)
Saturday-Sunday and bank holidays 09:00-21:00 (Social Worker office based in MK)
21:00-9:00 7 days a week – Social Worker will be taking emergency calls at home.
Please note:
We are only available to deal with Social Work emergencies which happen when local daytime offices have closed.
Further Support
"Appropriate Adult" Service
The local Youth Offending Team offer an "Appropriate Adult" service to Young People held at police stations. TVP have the list to call volunteers directly.
Our work focuses on:
- Children in need of protection
- Families in emergencies.
