The Virtual School have worked together with Raise Your Voice (our care experienced child and young person’s council) to jointly create our mission statement:
The MK Virtual School will work with young people and everyone else supporting them (including carers and parents, education professionals, social workers, independent reviewing officers and health colleagues) to be part of the team supporting them to secure the education they need and want. It is our role to provide advice, share learning and experiences, and provide challenge to ensure that all services and resources help with the young person’s education and support who they are as an individual.
We will aim to do this by:
- Raising educational success for our young people
- Ensuring that our young people have access to better education and help them to go through changes if needed
- Looking after the health needs of our young people, making sure that their voice is heard in decisions made about the things that matter
- Making sure that our young people have a PEP that supports them to follow their ambitions and dreams
- Making sure that everyone supporting our young people are offered training to understand Virtual School processes, funding and the importance of communication and relationships
- Committing to making sure that our young people understand what is going on to support them
We know that education is a large part of young people’s lives and it should prepare them for adulthood. We also know that education does not have a link to worth and we want to make sure all of our young people know this and feel inspired to have the life they want to live.
