What is the Community Infrastructure Fund (CIF)?
The CIF was set up to give local parish, town and community councils the opportunity to bid for match-funding for improvement projects in their own areas.
The fund replaced several other small pots of funding into one scheme that all parishes can apply for so they can get the financial boost required to carry out improvements that they might not be able to afford on their own.
The CIF provides up to £100k each year for these local projects. Parishes must put in a bid telling us what they want to do and how it will benefit their local area. The bids are assessed by:
- Feasibility (project plan and estimate)
- The MKC Themes (taken from the Milton Keynes Council Plan 2016-2022)
- Evidence of local needs and consultation
Projects
The projects must be within the 'public realm' this means highways, community buildings, environment, landscaping or play areas. There must be no ongoing maintenance costs to MK Council and not on privately owned land.
Most parishes will be expected to contribute 50% of the cost of their project with smaller parishes up to 25%.
Applications
Applications for the CIF 2022-23 should be submitted by Friday 27 August 2021 to highways.liaison@milton-keynes.gov.uk
