Statement of Reasons

Notice of Proposal

The Council has introduced a virtual parking management and enforcement system throughout the Borough.

The current CMK residents permit parking Orders were brought into operation in 2005 and 2013, before the virtual permit system was introduced, and now requires to be updated to include a provision for the issue of virtual parking permits and the management of parking.

In 2023 the Council amended its planning policy in respect of future car free residential developments in CMK.

In summary:

a) All resident and resident visitor permits will be virtual (no paper permit) and once approved will be uploaded onto the parking system.

b) Resident and resident visitor permits will only be available for purchase by the current registered addresses in Central Milton Keynes (as shown in Schedule 2 below).

The original traffic regulation orders of 2005 and 2013 have been amended several times and it was decided to replace them with a completely new order and revoke all previous Orders.

The Council will continue to monitor the way in which highway facilities are used and address any issues that come to its notice and following meaningful consultation with all stakeholders do what it considers necessary to facilitate the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

The Council is now carrying out statutory consultation on the proposed Order.

Any representations or objections to the proposed Order, together with the grounds upon which they are made, must be made in writing and sent to the Council’s Traffic Regulation Order Team at Milton Keynes Council, Civic Offices, 1 Saxon Gate East, Central Milton Keynes MK9 3EJ, or by email to TROteam@milton-keynes.gov.uk quoting reference TRO-357.
