The Traffic and Transport team have reviewed the available data that shows the traffic levels at different times at this location.

The layout of the road is restrictive and has:

• No footway.
• Restricted width for two-way traffic.
• Limited visibility due to the alignment and boundary hedges. 

Safety concerns are greatest at school and nursery opening and closing times, when there are more vehicles and more children, young people and adults walking, wheeling and scooting through this narrow section.

Any potential scheme aims to balance three community objectives:

• Create a safer pedestrian environment.
• Reduce vehicle speeds.
• Reduce through traffic / cut-through movements using Walton Road.

To help inform the discussion, we also gathered evidence on how Walton Road is being used at peak times. 

Your responses will be reviewed to see which of the proposed options have support from those who use this road and from residents nearby.
