Milton Keynes is on an exciting journey bidding to be UK City of Culture 2029, and we’d love you to come along for the ride.
We’re celebrating everything that makes MK special, including our creativity, our design, our communities, and our ambitious spirit. We’re also showing how we would make the most of the big opportunities that being City of Culture brings.
While led by Milton Keynes City Council, alongside partners from the arts, business, voluntary and community sectors, this bid belongs to the whole city, powered by the people who live, work and create here.
Why Milton Keynes?
Milton Keynes is a city built on imagination and a place where innovation, diversity and creativity thrive side by side. From world-class events to grassroots creativity in every grid square, MK is already bursting with culture. But we’re just getting started.
Bidding for UK City of Culture is a chance to:
- Put MK on the national and global stage
- Bring more opportunities for artists, young people and communities
- Attract investment, jobs and visitors
- Create a lasting legacy that benefits everyone
If we’re successful, 2029 will be a year-long celebration with spectacular outdoor events, creative projects in every community, and opportunities for local people to take part, volunteer and lead a programme that’s been shaped by you.
The real impact lasts far longer. Other previous cities of culture have shown just how powerful it can be, growing creatively, socially and economically for years to come.
