Who requires a licence?

The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 covers the keeping or training of animals for exhibition in the course of a business for educational or entertainment purposes

  • to any audience attending in person, or
  • by the recording of visual images of them by any form of technology that enables the display of such images

Since 1 October 2018, all new applications and renewals are under these regulations.

From 1 February 2022 the statutory guidance has been refreshed. The statutory guidance contains the licence conditions, the guidance to help you to achieve the licence and higher standards that can also be achieved. Please contact us if you need assistance with the application.
