New vehicles and vehicle renewals
If you would like to licence your own vehicle for use as a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire vehicle you will need to make an application using the portal below.
Before you do this, please check to see if your vehicle is on our approved list and meets the Milton Keynes City Council standards and requirements. See the bottom of this page for these lists. You may also wish to read the application guide linked below.
If you are changing your vehicle or have purchased a licensed vehicle from another driver you can use the online application portal for this. Please ensure you select 'Change of Owner/Vehicle - Private Hire' or 'Change of Owner/Vehicle - Hackney Carriage' as appropriate.

NOTE: We aim to action all emails and applications within seven working days, however this may vary during holiday periods or bank holidays. If you contact the council you MUST provide an application reference, badge number or plate number or you will not receive a response.
Updating your documents
Licensed drivers are required to keep the Council up to date with a number of documents that have expiry dates and any other changes. You must inform us of any changes to your insurance policy and let us know who is driving the vehicle and/or what operator(s) they are working for.
Road traffic accidents
If your vehicle has been involved in a road traffic accident then you will to email taxienforcement@milton-keynes.gov.uk and provide evidence of any damage to your vehicle.
