Workplace training and webinars

Domestic abuse awareness

Home Office ‘cost of crime’ estimates calculate that the second highest cost to the economy from Domestic Abuse (DA) is through lost output relating to time taken off work and reduced productivity afterwards.

The Public Health Workplace Team have collaborated with Domestic Abuse charity, MK ACT to deliver a package of DA training sessions to support workplaces and their employees across Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.

The training is a 3.5-hour interactive course in groups of 8 -12 people which:

  • Raises awareness of domestic abuse and how workplaces can provide a safe environment for victims
  • Supports employers and employees, to identify victims’ needs and how to support them
  • Provides knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse.

Improving ventilation and indoor air quality in small businesses

    Wednesday 4th October 2023 12:00-14:00

Join us in an online workshop to see our final guidance to support small business owners in improving their ventilation and find out about ongoing research to improve indoor environments.

We will present the final guidance from the research project “ Improving ventilation in small and medium hospitality venues”, and explain how this has been developed, and results from testing with a selection of small businesses.

We will also be joined by Professor Cath Noakes to introduce the Indoor Air Quality observatory and explain how you can engage with it. The Indoor Air quality Observatory is a new initiative to oversee indoor air monitoring activities and data collation in order to provide evidence to policy makers. In the session we’ll seek your input to shape the observatory to support Environmental Health Officers in influencing and regulating the indoor environment of businesses. To sign up please use the link below.
