    The Young People’s Drug and Alcohol (YPDA) service deliver a high quality and caring service for young people aged 18 and under (up to 25 with additional needs).

     The service works with young people who are affected by their own, or someone else’s, substance use or those who would like to gain more knowledge, whether they use substances or not. The service aims is to support young people in making more informed choices, and enable them to develop skills and strategies so that they can flourish and lead healthy, happy and safe lives. A member of the team will meet with a young person in a comfortable environment where they feel safe. 

    The team also provide drug and alcohol awareness sessions to professionals, schools, individuals and groups.

  • Everybody’s Business - a youth-led website for young people to help spot the signs of female genital mutilation (FGM) abuse and help others they think may be at risk with videos and interactive guides to help others find out about a practice which can have serious consequences for women and girls affected

  • Food Bank - works by referral agencies identifying families and individuals who need their support and issuing a voucher entitling them to a food parcel which can be picked up from one of their serving sessions located around the city - clients can receive a food parcel x5 times within a rolling 12 month period (although they are flexible in some cases when clients need further help)

  • MindEd is a free educational resource on children, young people, adults and older people's mental health MindEd Hub which includes e-learning training.
  • MoreLife -Delivering fun physical activity clubs for children (eligibility criteria applies) to join in every week. Helping you and your children learn more about looking after your health. On this course your family can access: a club for children, digital resources, games and recipes & online parent webinars. The MoreLife activity packs help your whole family build a healthy relationship with food and learn the importance of looking after our minds and our bodies.

    Our free support for schools compliments the PSHE core themes of study; health and wellbeing and includes healthy assemblies, 6-week healthy lifestyles programme and staff training on approaching the topic of weight.
  • MK Act - charity in Milton Keynes which works with families’ to help them move on from fear and abuse, providing safe emergency accommodation in Milton Keynes for women and their children escaping domestic violence for over 30 years
  • MK Play Association - giving all children in Milton Keynes and the surrounding area to have the opportunity to direct their own play in an open and accessible environment
  • MK Special Educational Needs and Disability Service (SEND IAS) is a statutory service offering confidential and impartial information, advice and support to children, young people and their parents in Milton Keynes who have special educational needs or a disability, between the ages of 0-25, where this is impacting upon their education
  • MK Storehouse - provide donated clothing for adults and children of school age upwards free of charge to families and individuals who are in need and have been referred to them
  • MK Together - agrees how local services and professionals should work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and adults in Milton Keynes
  • Milton Keynes Council Children and Family Centres offer support and guidance for the whole family, including junior youth groups for 8 -12 year olds run by the youth faculty, young parents groups and sessions run by our partner agencies

  • Children’s Oral Health e-learning programme  Health Education England e-Learning for Healthcare (HEE e-LfH), Faculty of Dentistry, Royal College of Surgeons and UCL Eastman Dental Institute and Hospital  free Children’s Oral Health e-learning programme:
    • provides information and advice about children’s oral health aimed at parents, expectant mothers, early years healthcare workers, teachers, nurses, GPs and the public
    • covers the main causes of tooth decay and simple actions that can be taken to prevent the problem
    • explains when a child’s primary (baby) and adult (permanent) teeth start to appear, and what you should do if a tooth is knocked out 
    • the programme consists of one e-learning session that will take about 20 minutes to complete with a number of self-assessment questions throughout the learning which enable understanding of the key points to be checked

  • SAFE! – Support for young people (aged 5 – 18 years) affected by crime. Young Victims Service provides one-to-one and group work support to move forward from victimisation experienced. ChISDVA support is available throughout police investigation and court case for sexual harm or domestic abuse. Building Respectful Families works with young people and their parent/ caregiver where there is child/ adolescent to parent violence or abuse, this support happens simultaneously through 1:1 and group work. Referrals for Young Victims Service and ChISDVA can be made here

  • MK YiS Young People's Mental HealthYiS Young People's Mental Health is a long-running independent charity that works in Milton Keynes to help young people as well as the people that support them. We provide counselling, education, early support hubs and more to improve mental health and wellbeing in the local area. More information about MK YiS and all of our services is available on our website.

    Therapeutic Counselling

    We provide free and confidential BACP-accredited counselling for young people aged 11-21 in Milton Keynes. We work with various issues, including anxiety, depression, anger, recovery from abuse, family problems, relationship difficulties and many more. More information can be found on our Therapeutic Counselling pages.

    Education and Outreach

    We deliver high quality, engaging and interactive mental health and wellbeing workshops in schools and workplaces, which include one to one coaching and outreach activities to young people across Milton Keynes.

    Our specialist Wellbeing Trainers are skilled in delivering a variety of topics such as Mental Health Awareness, Workplace Wellbeing, Self-Esteem & Confidence and Stress and Anxiety strategies. More information can be found on our Education and Training pages.

    Early Support Hubs

    The YiS Early Support Hubs provide a drop-in service for young people aged 11+ who would like a safe space to access support for their mental health and wellbeing without needing a referral or an appointment. Young people will gain access to light touch, early intervention information, signposting, and guidance to support their mental health and emotional wellbeing needs before they hit a crisis point. More information can be found on our Early Support Hubs pages.

  • Youth Advice and Guidance - a free and confidential service for young people in Milton Keynes aged 16-19 (up to 25 with learning difficulties or disabilities) who are not in employment, education or training that help you make decisions and take action
  • The Youth Offending Team (YOT) works specifically with young people primarily aged 10 – 18, who are on Court Orders or who have received Pre-Court Disposals
  • Young Carers MK is a local charity who support children and young people, aged 8 to 19, who look after and support a family member who is unwell with, for example, a long term illness, a disability, substance and alcohol dependency, mental illnesses or learning disabilities, by giving them:
    • a chance to have a break away from home
    • an opportunity to meet other young carers
    • have new experiences with activities in the school holidays and youth clubs
    • 1:1 emotional support and targeted workshops around the caring role
