About the development
Milton Keynes City Council is pleased to announce progress on the Acre Lodge development in Netherfield (formerly Cripps Lodge), which will deliver 66 new affordable homes on the site of the former care facility.
Working with Higgins Partnerships, the development will transform a previously disused site into a high-quality residential neighbourhood, providing a range of much-needed homes for local people.
The scheme includes one- to five-bedroom properties, with a mix of bungalows, houses and apartments designed to meet a variety of housing needs, including those requiring accessible and adaptable accommodation.
All homes will be built to high energy-efficiency standards and feature modern sustainability measures including air source heat pumps, solar panels and enhanced insulation to help reduce energy bills and support the city’s environmental ambitions.
The development will also include attractive landscaping, improved pedestrian routes, open green spaces and sustainable drainage features.
Why we are building Acre Lodge
The Acre Lodge project forms part of Milton Keynes City Council’s wider commitment to increasing the supply of high-quality affordable and council housing across the city, helping to tackle housing demand and reduce reliance on temporary accommodation.
Through the Council’s More for MK programme, the development will also deliver wider community benefits, including local jobs, apprenticeships, opportunities for local businesses and investment in the local economy.
Councillor Ed Hume, Cabinet Member for Housing, said:
“There is a real need for more affordable homes in Milton Keynes and the Acre Lodge development will provide high-quality, energy-efficient homes for local families and residents. By bringing a former care facility site back into use, we are creating new housing opportunities while investing in the long-term future of Netherfield and supporting our commitment to deliver the right homes in the right places across our city.”
What happens next
Construction is being delivered in phases, with ongoing engagement planned throughout the project.
Residents will be kept informed through community events, newsletters and dedicated liaison support.
