CODE OF CONDUCT
MILTON KEYNES CITY COUNCIL LIBRARIES
Everyone is welcome in our libraries, and we want to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all our customers and staff. We ask that every customer helps us to do this by following the guidelines outlined below.
- Please treat our building, team and other library users with courtesy and respect.
- To keep children safe, children under the age of 10 must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible parent/carer (aged 16+) in all areas of the library. Your child’s safety remains your responsibility.
- Please respect the library’s site policy on eating and drinking by confining refreshments to designated areas and avoiding hot drinks in children’s areas.
- For security reasons, please keep personal belongings with you at all times.
- You will need to have your own library card with you for any services that use a library card for access. Your library card is only for you and shouldn’t be loaned to anyone else - it’s free to join the library and have your own card.
- Please don’t unplug any library equipment. Where a power point is available, you are welcome to charge phones, tablets and laptops.
- Please avoid loud conversations and use of mobile phones in those areas set aside for quiet study.
- Trained (and in training) assistance dogs are allowed in our libraries, but all other animals (including emotional support animals) are not.
- Please be aware that electric scooters, bicycles, smoking, vaping, alcohol, drugs and abusive behaviour are not permitted onsite.
Thank you for helping us to make our libraries welcoming for everyone.
