How to get involved in local democracy

Participate in meetings, or decisions:

Members of the public can participate in our meetings. You can ask questions, speak about decisions, suggest scrutiny topics, or submit petitions. More information is available here.

Raising an issue with a Councillor:

All Elected Councillors can be contacted directly about local issues. Find your ward Councillors, and their contact details by entering your postcode here.

Becoming a Councillor

Are you passionate about your local community and want to make a difference? Have you considered standing to becoming a Councillor? The next Council and Parish  Elections will be on 2 May 2024. For information on what standing for a Councillor involves, please visit: www.local.gov.uk/be-councillor, or contact Democratic Services.

MK Youth Council (MKYC)

The Milton Keynes Youth Council provides opportunities for 11-18 year olds to use their voice in creative ways to bring about social change. You can find more details about how to join MKYC and about the work that they do here.

We can promote your group or activity

Do you have an event or activity that you’d like to promote? Do you want more people to be involved? Or are you hosting a meeting or activity to help people have a voice in local decisions? We’re looking for activities, volunteering opportunities and events to promote as part of this year’s Local Democracy Week.

If you have something to share, we’d love to hear from you.
