Welcome to Your Vote week
The Electoral Commission has launched ‘Welcome to Your Vote Week 2026’, it is taking place from 9 - 15 March. The theme this year is ‘Why Voting Matters’.
Here’s how Milton Keynes Council are getting involved in Welcome to Your Vote week. The Democratic Participation Officer will be attending Bletchley and Chaffron Way colleges to engage with students in encouraging them to register to vote before the deadline of 20 April 2026 if they wish to take part in this years local elections.
We have also communicated the electoral commission website of information and resources to Councillors, parishes and secondary schools in Milton Keynes. The Milton Keynes Youth Council (MKYC) have put together assembly toolkits for schools and will be delivering these to their schools through out the week.
Do you turn 18 years before 7 May 2026 and do you want to vote in the upcoming local elections if so you will need to register to vote before 20 April 2026. Do not loose your right to vote, act now!
Milton Keynes Youth Council will be getting involved by supporting activities in their schools and local areas. MKYC will be sharing information on how young people in the city of Milton Keynes are shaping the way young people can have, and have been getting involved in politics to shape their futures. By encouraging all young people to take part in activities such as discovering who represents you in your local area, exploring the issues that matter most to you and others to making a positive impact in their community.
