Fly tipping in Conniburrow

A man from Bletchley has been ordered to pay more than £1,000 in fines and costs for illegally dumping waste.

A caretaker discovered rubbish dumped in a car park at flats on Ramson Avenue in Conniburrow. Council officers found that the man had moved from the flats and illegally dumped the rubbish he didn’t want to take to his new home.

He was issued with a fixed penalty notice for fly tipping which he failed to pay. The Council took the matter to court, but the defendant didn’t turn up to the initial hearing, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He pleaded guilty to illegally dumping waste on 4 July 2022 at court and was fined £461 and ordered to pay the Council’s legal costs of £561 and a victim surcharge of £46.

This fine sends a strong message to those who move away from a property and think that it is somebody else’s problem to clean up after them. We will not tolerate fly tipping in our city and think the large amount of money we spend cleaning up after other people could be better spent.
