The Milton Keynes Cycle Carnival gets underway this afternoon (13 July) with a big turnout expected for the fun festival which includes cycle stunt contests, vintage cycling shows, awards, a Panacea samba band and much more.

The Cycle Carnival is a family-friendly annual celebration of cycling and active lifestyles funded by Milton Keynes City Council through the Active Travel Fund and organised by Cycling Citizens:MK.  Around 200 cyclists of all abilities are expected to take part. Santander will be offering a free bike to borrow for three hours for anyone wishing to attend who doesn’t own a bike.

Held at the Old Bus Station in Central Milton Keynes from 4pm on 13 July, the event aims to promote sustainable transport, bring communities together and encourage healthy living. Full details of the schedule can be found on the Citizens MK website.

“This really inclusive event promises to be even bigger and better this year. It’s encouraging that so many people are taking up cycling in our city and events like these demonstrate just how passionate we are about MK being among the most cycling-friendly places in the world.

“I’d strongly encourage people to come along whether you’re an avid cyclist or just like to get on your bike once in a while – there’s something for everyone.”
