Milton Keynes City Council is working with Bucks-based charity, The Getaway Foundation to give some of the city’s most vulnerable families a much-needed break. Since 2021, the charity has provided 86 free UK holidays to local families, paid for by generous donations from its supporters.
The holidays offer families who are struggling financially or facing challenging circumstances the chance to spend quality time together and create positive memories. The City Council works closely with local organisations to identify families who would benefit most from the support.
“We’re incredibly grateful to The Getaway Foundation for their continued support. For families under pressure, a holiday can make a huge difference – giving them time to relax and bond. From speaking to these families, we know that the vast majority have seen a long-term positive impact on their wellbeing. This partnership is about more than just a trip away; it’s about giving families hope and helping them build resilience for the future.”
“Poverty should never be a barrier to families enjoying time together. Our mission is to help create happy memories for those who need them most, and working with Milton Keynes City Council means we can reach families who are really struggling. These breaks give parents and children a chance to reconnect and experience something positive, which can have a lasting impact on family life.”
The Getaway Foundation was founded in January 2020 to benefit families in poverty and create positive memories through holidays. For more information about The Getaway Foundation and its work with Milton Keynes City Council, visit www.thegetawayfoundation.com
