A programme of FREE fun-packed activity sessions and meals from Milton Keynes City Council is set to brighten the Easter school holidays of families with children in receipt of benefit-related free school meals, and it’s proving incredibly popular.

In just the first 12 hours of reservations going live, almost 2,000 eligible families had booked a place for their child. Around 80% of the 7,000 individual City Council funded sessions are now filled. The City Council works with activity providers to keep activities inclusive and accessible, and a third of participating children have additional needs.

Between 7 – 10 April, a huge range of indoor and outside activities will be on offer, from egg hunts to circus skills, team sports and music. There’s even the opportunity to visit Planet Ice, Woburn Safari Park or Petite Ponies, where children can meet and learn about a variety of animals.

Eligible families can browse the programme and contact their chosen providers via the online booking system.  Most of the activities are four hours long and include nutritious, healthy meals. All providers will be able to cater their events for young people with special educational needs or disabilities.

“Our Easter programme has been a big hit with families this year, offering a wide range of activities for children of all ages. We know school holidays can be a challenging time, so we’ve worked closely with local providers to create safe, fun and engaging sessions for young people. The online booking system makes it simple for eligible families to take part, so please do take a look if you haven’t already.”
- Councillor Joe Hearnshaw, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People

The City Council is working with 39 local clubs, schools, charities and organisations to provide the activities alongside events offered by its own Family Centres and Music Hub.
