Two dedicated youth representatives are set to champion the views and experiences of their peers across Milton Keynes after being elected as the city’s new Youth Mayor and Deputy Youth Mayor.

The Milton Keynes Youth Council (MKYC) has elected Tito Adeyale as Youth Mayor and Rohan Ravjee as Deputy Youth Mayor.

As Youth Mayor, Tito will act as an ambassador for young people across the city, attending civic and community events, raising the profile of youth issues, chairing MKYC Advisory Group meetings and representing young people on Milton Keynes City Council’s Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee.

A lifelong Milton Keynes resident and active member of MKYC, 16-year-old Tito is committed to helping make a positive difference for young people. During her term, she hopes to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health, increase political awareness and engagement among young people, and shine a spotlight on the community spaces and opportunities available across the city.

Supporting her as Deputy Youth Mayor is Rohan Ravjee, who has been an active member of MKYC for the past two years. Through his experience as a student leader and mental health ambassador, Rohan has worked to ensure young people feel heard, supported and empowered to take part in decisions that affect their lives. Rohan is passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for young people to influence local decision-making.

“Congratulations to Tito and Rohan on their election as Youth Mayor and Deputy Youth Mayor. Their enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to representing young people is inspiring. Young people are helping shape the future of Milton Keynes, and I look forward to working with them to ensure their voices continue to influence local decisions and make a real difference across our city.”
- Leader of Milton Keynes City Council, Cllr Jane Carr

MKYC is made up of elected young representatives from across Milton Keynes who work together to champion the issues that matter most to young people. Through campaigns, workshops, events and partnerships with local organisations and services, the Youth Council helps ensure young people's views are heard and reflected in decisions that affect them.

Unlike many youth elections, which are held online, Milton Keynes runs its Youth Council elections through physical polling stations in schools across the city. Young people cast their votes using ballot papers, giving them first-hand experience of the democratic process. More than 25,000 children and young people take part in the elections each year, making it one of the largest youth voting programmes of its kind in the country.

Over the next year, Tito and Rohan will work with fellow councillors, Youth Council members and community partners to help create more opportunities for young people and ensure their voices remain at the heart of Milton Keynes' future.
