SUEZ has taken over as the new operator of Milton Keynes City Council’s Waste Recovery Park, with a new 10-year contract starting on 1 October.

The Waste Recovery Park uses sustainable methods to process household rubbish that cannot be recycled, helping Milton Keynes divert almost all of its waste from landfill while generating enough energy to power the equivalent of around 10% of homes across the city.

SUEZ already works with Milton Keynes City Council on waste and recycling collections and street cleansing services, and last year Milton Keynes rose to become England's number one recycling city in national rankings.

"The Waste Recovery Park plays a vital role in managing Milton Keynes' waste, helping us divert almost all of it from landfill while generating sustainable energy for the city. We’d like to thank our outgoing operator Thalia for helping to establish the facility since it opened in 2018, and welcome SUEZ who will help us to continue delivering efficient, innovative and environmentally responsible services and excellent value for residents."
