Children and families in Wavendon have a brand-new place to play, explore and spend time together following the opening of a new park and play area at Elmswell Gate and, a development that will provide 240 new homes.
Councillor Kerrie Bradburn joined local residents and members of the project team to officially mark the opening of the new community space, which features a double slide, climbing frame, swings, spinner, floor trampoline, table tennis table and seating areas.
The new park has been delivered through contributions secured by Milton Keynes City Council from the Elmswell Gate and Towergate developments, helping ensure that as new homes are built, communities benefit from the facilities and infrastructure they need.
The City Council invests funding from developers into projects that support both new and existing communities, including parks and play areas, schools, health facilities and transport improvements.
“This is a fantastic new addition for Wavendon and a space that local families can enjoy for years to come. Parks and play areas bring people together, give children the freedom to play and help create strong, connected communities. As Milton Keynes continues to grow, it's important that investment in new homes is matched by investment in the facilities people need. This new park shows how developer contributions can create lasting benefits for both new and existing residents.”
“We’re delighted to have been involved in delivering this fantastic new park and play area for the Wavendon community. It’s always rewarding to see a project come to life, particularly one that encourages children to get outdoors, enjoy active play and spend time together. We hope it will be enjoyed by local families for many years to come.”
