Partnership helps local families enjoy precious time together

Cllr Peter Cannon talks about the partnership with The Getaway Foundation

Milton Keynes City Council is working with Bucks-based charity, The Getaway Foundation to give some of the city’s most vulnerable families a much-needed break. Since 2021, the charity has provided 104 free UK holidays to local families, paid for by generous donations from its supporters.

The holidays give families facing financial difficulties or other challenging circumstances the chance to spend quality time together and create positive memories. The City Council works closely with local organisations to identify families who would benefit most from the support.

“Every family deserves the opportunity to spend quality time together and make happy memories. Through our partnership with The Getaway Foundation, families who might otherwise miss out can enjoy a well-earned break and some valuable time away from everyday pressures. We’re incredibly grateful for their continued support and the difference it makes locally.”
- Councillor Peter Cannon, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People
“I want to thank the incredible family support teams at Milton Keynes City Council for their continued support of The Getaway Foundation. Over the past six years, working together, we've seen first-hand the impact of the memories the TGAF respite breaks create for families. For many, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity - and the benefits last a lifetime."
- Peter Tebbutt, CEO of The Getaway Foundation

The Getaway Foundation was founded in January 2020 to benefit families in poverty and create positive memories through holidays. For more information about The Getaway Foundation and its work with Milton Keynes City Council, visit www.thegetawayfoundation.com
