Milton Keynes City Council is investing over £6m into this year’s resurfacing programme to repair and extend the life of city roads as part of ongoing investment to improve road surfaces, prevent potholes, and extend the life of carriageways.
During August, 11 roads around the city will be fully resurfaced, where the existing surface is removed and a new layer of asphalt is laid. This is the best option when a road’s surface is deteriorating in multiple places, and the city council has inspected sites and used feedback from local people to determine which roads most required resurfacing.
The roads are:
- Aspreys, Olney
- V10 Brickhill Street, H8 – H9
- Kingsmead Roundabout, H7/V1
- V6 Grafton Street and North Grafton Roundabout, Central Milton Keynes
- Stratford Road, Wolverton
- Garamonde Drive, Two Mile Ash
- Snowdon Drive, Winterhill
- Chesney Wold, Bleak Hall
- Wolverton Road, Newport Pagnell
- Cricket Green / Green Lane Roundabout
- South Witan Roundabout, Central Milton Keynes
The work follows on from a month of surface dressing, which is where chippings coated by bitumen stops water from penetrating the carriageway and extends the life of the road by years. This is better for roads that are starting to show signs of wear, but that are structurally sound. Crews worked on 14 roads, treating an area roughly the size of 30 football pitches.

Surface treatments help to prevent potholes forming which will help to keep the roads smooth and well maintained in the long term. These improvements are part of our ongoing investment in the city's infrastructure, helping to create safer, more reliable journeys for everyone who lives, works and travels here".
Temporary road closures and diversions are put in whilst works take place and the roadworks will also be listed on One.Network. Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained, and diversion routes will be clearly signed. Residents are encouraged to allow additional travel time when travelling in the areas.
