Local Development Scheme (LDS)

What is a Local Development Scheme?

A Local Development Scheme (LDS) is a three-year project plan that sets out the timescales for preparing the new planning policy documents. The LDS sets out the documents that will be prepared by Milton Keynes Council as part of the Development Plan for the Borough.

The LDS does not include the detailed timescales for the preparation of Neighbourhood Plans as these are led by Town and Parish Councils on behalf of their local communities, and the timescales for their production are outside of our control. However, once 'made' by Milton Keynes Council, they will become part of the Development Plan, and will be used in the determination of relevant planning proposals. For information, the status of the neighbourhood plans that are made or under preparation is included in the table in Appendix 2 of the LDS.
