Works will start on Queensway, Bletchley from Monday 27 October 2025.
The construction phase is being project managed by the Council's Highways team.
The aim of the project is to:
- To improve the public realm area
- Tackle issues with footway parking
- Provide designated disabled parking bays
- Improve road safety
- New drainage system
- New street furniture
The work will take place in phases starting with Elizabeth Square. During this time the car park between Cambridge Street and Lennox Road will be closed to all vehicles.
As part of this scheme we will be removing a total of seven trees. Five have already been removed from Queensway and these showed signs of disease. The other two are being removed to improve visibility therefore increasing pedestrian and vehicular safety. The additional space also allows us to make the other improvements to the area which includes adding 22 new trees.
The work is funded by the New Town Deal fund for Bletchley and Fenny Stratford. You can find out more about this fund and the plans here
