Acorn at Castlethorpe

Acorn at Castlethorpe

Castlethorpe is a lovely converted chapel situated in a quiet village a few miles north of Milton Keynes. It was the first Acorn nursery to open and was established in 1989. Castlethorpe is a 36 place day nursery for children aged between four months and four years.

Our menus have been carefully planned to be both seasonal and nutritionally balanced and tasty ensuring we have clean plates every time! Our cook Julie prepares all the nursery meals and snacks onsite each day providing nutritionally balanced meals which are both healthy and appetizing. We only use fresh, local, ethically sourced produce to create our delicious meals. We can accommodate most dietary requirements and have won several awards for our food.

Acorn places a strong emphasis on outdoor learning and the children enjoy play outside in all weathers. Pre-school children develop their outdoor learning at regular Forest School sessions, which take place at nearby Salcey Forest with Acorn’s fully qualified Forest School Leaders.

The nursery has a close relationship with the adjoining school. The out-of-school club, called The Wolery and run by nursery, operate from the school building and cater for children aged 4 to 8 years. The Wolery runs a term-time after-school club.

It’s not just the children who have all the fun at Acorn. They organise events on a regular basis to help parents meet each other, share experiences and talk to us. Some events are an opportunity to discuss children’s progress and development with their staff.
