In February 2021, the Government announced a one-off recovery premium as part of its package of funding to support education recovery.

The recovery premium provides additional funding for state-funded schools in the 2021 to 2022 academic year. Building on the pupil premium, this funding will help schools to deliver evidence-based approaches for supporting disadvantaged pupils.

On 6 September 2021, the Government published details of additional funding in the 2021 to 2022 academic year to support schools with education recovery following COVID-19. The recovery premium funding guidance gives full details including eligibility, funding, using the premium and reporting and accountability.

The Education Recovery document published in June 2021 gives information about the programmes and activities the Department for Education is funding to support education recovery and children and young people’s wellbeing.
