What’s happening?
We’re carrying out our regular valuation of council homes. This happens every year, but every five years we also need to inspect a small number of homes called “beacon properties.”
What is a beacon property?
Your home has been chosen as a beacon property. These homes help us understand the value of similar properties in the area. Surveyors will look at things like the age, size, layout, and construction of the home so they can create an accurate valuation.
This will not affect your tenancy, rent, or any of your services it is simply information the council must collect.
Who will be visiting?
A qualified surveyor will need to enter your home to check its condition, layout, and overall market value.
The surveyor team includes:
- Mark Tyler
- Mandy Spenceley
- Charlotte Watson
- Philip Booth
All surveyors will wear identification badges and carry an official letter of authority.
When will the visit take place?
Surveyors will be in your area between 9am and 6pm on Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18, and Thursday 19 March 2026.
We understand this may be inconvenient, and we appreciate your cooperation. Please ensure someone aged 18 or over is at home to provide access.
What to expect during the inspection
The surveyor will need to look at both the inside and outside of your home. They will:
- Access all rooms
- Take measurements using a distometer
- Take photos inside and outside
You do not need to provide access to loft spaces or cellars.
If you have dogs, please place them in a separate room before the surveyor arrives.
