The background

A new waste collection service will start for MK residents in 2023. Most homes in Milton Keynes will receive a set of new wheeled bins or an alternative container.

Over 300,000 bins will need to be purchased, ready for delivery during 2023, and now MK Council has started a tender programme to find the right supplier. Approval was given in December 2021, to start a tender programme to purchase and distribute wheeled bins across Milton Keynes for the new waste collection service.

Current waste collection pilot

Since October 2020 Milton Keynes Council has been running a waste collection pilot scheme, covering almost 3,000 MK homes to trial wheeled bins and lidded recycling boxes. The lessons learned from this pilot and feedback from MK residents has been used to form the new waste collection service for 2023.
